Gregg Hill’s Biography
Gregg is one of the highest certified Bodyworkers in the United
States. I have spent ten of my twelve years in Bodywork studying with
Shogo Mochizuki. Shogo’s family is one of 3 in Japan that is in the
medical archives in Japan. His family has been doing bodywork for 240
years! Gregg has also studied with many other teachers in Asian
Bodywork. Gregg has studied Thai massage from Saul David Raye in Los
Angeles, Winnie Cain in Scottsdale, AZ. & Blake Martin who teaches Kam
Thye Chow from Canada. My resume is the result of my current job with
DuPont, which requires me to work 3 to 4 12 hour shifts. In my free
time I operate Gregg Hill’s Japanese Massage & Asian Bodywork in
Houston, Texas by myself. I gross on average $ 45 K a year. Last year I
was away to seminars for 51 days. I reinvested $36K by going to seminars
& buying educational tools. For my clients, I bring back some new ideas
I work with in my office; so ultimately, when they pay me, their money
comes back to them. I've learned a lot from the western Bodyworkers that
I have studied with and do use some of their techniques. I find the
Asian system to be much more efficient. A popular thought is to conserve
energy, but the truth is the more energy you use the more is given to
you. Another idea is that a Therapist needs time to get "centered." my
question is what are they doing for the other 23 hours in a day! I can
work all day, My body doesn't hurt. I can be as "soft" or as "deep" as I
need to be. If you go into the ocean to ride the waves, you can either
ride them or get knocked around and eat sand. The Asian techniques are
so old, they will show you how to use them if you are aware while you
are doing your session.
I have been involved with classical Yoga for 27 years. Many of the
biggest Yoga practitioners are now getting hip or knee replacements.
There are many students in Yoga classes today that are hurt. I want to
use my Bodywork experience to give seminars so people can enjoy their
Yoga. Yoga is much more than exercise; it is a way of life that promotes
hard work on yourself so you can be a better person.
I was told in 1980 by Swami Vishnudevananda “Serve those in front of
you one at a time.” He also said, “It will take you 30-40 years to hear
what I (Swami Vishnudevananda) am telling you.” It has been 26 years and
I have seen a lot. The techniques I teach have been perfected in Asia
and in my practice I use western techniques such as Tom Myers, who is an
expert teacher and Rolfer. I want results so the client is satisfied.
A favorite quote from the Indian Scripture’s is: "The daughter of
EXPERTISE is COMPASSION and the daughter of COMPASSION is FEARLESSNESS".
Everybody has something to give or teach the world - mine is the above.
